The exhibition was on women in art, and the museum had a whole floor on different famous paintings by artists who had painted women at dfferent angles - homemakers, modern women, nudes, adolescents/tom-boys, and so on. One of the questions it asked was that if the only way for a woman to be in an art exhibition, was to be nude ( 'cos there were very few women artisits at that time)? Which gave rise to me thinking that sometimes society sees women as just headless(brainless) beautiful bodies, when we are actually so much more than that. That exhibit of whirling red dresses was at the main entrance of the exhibition, and the dresses were set up on headless manikins, on a device automated to make them whirl for a few minutes before stopping completely for abit and then starting up again. Glad you like the picture! I only wish I had a proper camera at that time! :)
Wow! That is amazing! I am going to bookmark this page. I love the whole thought behind the exhibhit. Agree with you about the way women are sometimes seen and the sad part is that soo many women choose to believe that themselves.
Thanks for the pic and all tht explanation :) You hv me hooked! ;)
I think therefore, I am. I'm an idealist. I like to look for the silver lining in every dark cloud for everyone, but when it comes to myself, I'm as pessimistic as can be.
